Just two months before The Boston Run Show returns to the Hynes Convention Center and opens its doors to the city of running, Boston, the organizers have announced a stellar line up of inspirational speakers. Two main stages will host Olympians and world record breaking athletes offering inspiration and insights into their careers, as well as educational sessions to help upskill visitors’ technique and experience. FREE tickets are now available for the weekend January 27-28, 2024 at the Hynes Convention Center at www.thebostonrunshow.com using code DECEMBER.
The expo will welcome runners from across the states looking to improve their skills and knowledge about their passion for running. Across two stages – the Marathon & Road Stage, and the Trails & Ultra Stage – there will be 30+ speakers and multiple sessions to cover everything from improving your running, preparing for your next event, finding a community in running, inspiring achievements and more.
The stages will be hosted by well-known East Coast coach Kelly Roberts and hosts of the Bad Boy Running podcast, Jody Raynsford and David Hellard.
Who’s There & When
Saturday’s Marathon & Road Stage line-up ‘kicks-off’ with former professional soccer player Hellah Sidibe (also known as HellahGood on social media), shortly after he cuts the ribbon to open the show at 9am. Now a keen runner, Hellah ran across the United States at the beginning of a run streak that started in May 2017, and has run every day since across a variety of distances, building a strong and supportive community around him.
Visitors seeking off-road inspiration on the Saturday should head for the Trail & Ultra stage to hear from running greats including ultra-positive ultrarunner Coree Woltering, Triple Crown record holder Scott Jenkins, 2-time Badwater winner Pete Kostelnick, and 7-times Western States 100 winner, Scott Jurek.
Michael Johnson, the 4-time Olympic gold medalist and 8-time World Championship gold medalist, will open the show at Sunday’s 10am ribbon cutting, before an interview on the Marathon & Road Stage soon after, giving insight into his phenomenal running achievements and career.
Visitors looking for a lighter take the running world, will be entertained by the comic Laura Green who will bring her hilarious wit and running stories to the stage on Sunday afternoon, reminding us not to take running too seriously.
On the Sunday, Scott Jenkins will return to the Trail & Ultra stage for a Q&A interview to delve further into his achievements and the resilience they require, and Barkley Marathon double finisher, John Kelly, will be closing the show, hot off the back of his return to the UK’s brutal Spine race.
Running Inclusivity
The expo is designed to attract all levels of runner, from grass roots to advanced, and this is reflected in the line-up of the speakers chosen for this event. Danny Dreyer will impart 5 crucial tips for every runner and Molly Sheridan will inspire those visitors who are running in later life. Women will also be able to enjoy a panel session covering the menopause and other running challenges women face. For any runners who are in need of some motivation, Russ Hoyt CEO of the Hoyt Foundations will inspire runners by telling his dad and brother’s story of overcoming adversity and sharing the positive message of ‘yes you can’!
Partner to the show, the Boston Athletic Association, organizers of the Boston Marathon, will host a session each day, addressing expansion and inclusion, discussing the ways all runners feel welcome at events.
Improving technique and mindset
The schedule offers visitors tips to take away from the expo and help to improve their running technique and overcome mental hurdles.
Adidas will be bringing former Olympian medalist turned coach, Tonia Buford-Bailey, to talk about her career highlights and offer training tips for visitors. Further technique improvement ideas can be found throughout the show in the Strength & Conditioning Zone.
For those runners taking on a race, Denise Sauriol’s talk ‘How to power through the wall in training and on race day’ will be vital mental and physical preparation. Dr Emily Splichal will be speaking about every runner’s nightmare – plantar fasciitis, offering advice on how to prevent the injury and how to recover if needed. Hillary Topper will share her wisdom on the mindset needed to return to running after injury or another of life’s curveballs in her session: ‘How to motivate yourself after a setback’.
Alongside an incredible program of inspirational speakers, the show will offer more than 100 brands for this debut event including Adidas, Skechers, Puma, Asics, New Balance, Marathon Sports, Hyperice, Hydrapak, Altra, Aetrex, Darn Tough, Craft, features and many more. The brands will provide a shopping experience for visitors, offering the latest running products at best show prices as well as competitions, give aways and swag.
