The Boston Run Show cleans up Seaport Streets with ‘plogging’ shake out run

As part of the Raccoon Media Group’s commitment to giving back to the city of Boston, a sustainability-focused shake-out run took place on the morning of Saturday, March 1, coinciding with the opening day of The Boston Run Show. The plogging ‘pick up litter and jogging’ activation, which was sponsored by Runna, Running for Real, 2before, Chi Running, Soles4Souls and Marathon Printing, saw the Boston running community come together to help clean the streets of Boston’s Seaport District.

Tina Muir, founder of Running for Real, led the group activity which saw 30 runners collect 30 bags full of trash. The event also saw participation from Dave McGillivray, Race Director of the B.A.A. Boston Marathon, along with popular content creator and self-proclaimed “donut connoisseur” Alex Hermanson. Erica Hamel from the On the Runs podcast also joined in, lending her support to the eco-conscious effort.

This initiative aligns with Raccoon Media Group’s broader sustainability strategy, which focuses on reducing the carbon footprint of its events. The company has achieved Net Zero in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and aims to maintain this status despite business growth. Additionally, Raccoon Media Group is working to reduce event emissions per visitor, with specific targets set for both UK and US events, and is actively encouraging low-carbon travel options to influence Scope 3 emissions.
