Originally from Oregon, Rupp started his career setting records at high school, college, and senior levels and is now known as one of the greatest American runners of all time.
Having broken multiple records, Rupp competed and reached World Finals in 2007 and went on to make his debut at the Olympic Finals in 2008 Beijing. Rupp is renown for his incredible feats and experience in long distance running covering 5,000m (meters) 10,000m and the marathon.
In London 2012, Rupp won Silver for 10,000m race and followed this outstanding achievement with Bronze for the marathon in Rio de Janeiro 2016. Rupp won the US Olympic trials in 2020, qualifying for the Tokyo Olympic Games, where he eventually took 8th place in the marathon.
Rupp’s incredible endurance and strength helped him to secure further accolades in World Marathon Majors. He won the Chicago marathon in 2017 with a winning time of 2:09:20 and came second in 2021, running one of his fastest marathon times at 2:06:35 – just seconds behind winner Seifu Tura.
