I have never really been a great runner. I never believed I could be. I love cycling and swimming and became a beginner triathlete after the pandemic. After a cycling accident in November 2022 that resulted in 2 non displaced fractures in my pelvis I had to change my own mind. I didn’t require surgery. I asked my surgeon what I could do and he said “You can walk, but it’s going to hurt.” 8 months later I crossed the finish line of my first 70.3 Ironman. 10 months later I rode 156 miles in 2 days for my 7th year of the Pan Mass Challenge. Training was hard, it hurt, I cried but I never gave up. There is no feeling like a finish line feeling when you know you gave everything you had to get there. And I’m still not a great runner but I’m better and stronger than I was before.
