Ultra & Trail running icon, Lazarus Lake signed to speak at The Boston Run Show 2025

The Boston Run Show will take place March 1-2, 2025 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center

The Boston Run Show is thrilled to announce that Lazarus Lake (real name Gary Cantrell), the man behind the Barkley Marathons will headline the Inspiration Stage at The Boston Run Show 2025. The expo will return March 1-2, at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center collocating with The Boston Outdoor Expo on the same weekend.

The consumer expo, dedicated to empowering and motivating runners of all levels, aims to equip runners with gear and coaching advice to inspire them for their best year of running. The event expects to welcome over 12,000 runners including beginners, families, and the local Boston Strong community.

Lake, famous in the world of ultra and trail running, is perhaps best known for his creation of The Barkley Marathons, a 100-mile trail race coined as “the race that eats its young.” The competition is a race including orienteering and off-trail scrambling set to test endurance. Only 20 people have finished it and most recently, the first female (Jasmin Paris) finished in 2024. In addition to the popular Barkley Marathon, his career of race directing has spanned several other events including Big’s Backyard Ultra, the Barkley Fall Classic, Vol State 500K, A Race for the Ages, the Last Annual Heart of the South, and the Strolling Jim 40. Lake has conquered numerous endurance achievements himself, including covering the States on foot from Rhode Island to Oregon in 2018.

Lake will join a strong line-up of speakers including alpinist Conrad Anker, Mebrahtom “Meb” Keflezighi, the only man in history to win the New York City Marathon, the Boston Marathon, and an Olympic medal as well as the 2018 winner and the first US women’s champion at the Boston Marathon since 1985, Des Linden. Other speakers will include Founder of Running for Real, Tina Muir, Boston Marathon Race Director Dave McGillivray, and podcaster Kelly Roberts who all will share experiences, set to inspire Boston runners.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore and shop from a wide range of renowned brands including popular names such as UYN, Runna, Runur Athletics, Inov8, Levelle Nutrition, Hilma, Bakline, Adidas, Aetrex, 2Beyond and many more yet to be announced. The experience enables shoppers to discover and purchase from a wide range of high-end and small brands related to running, fitness and wellbeing.
